2017 Biblical Feast (Festival) Dates
CURRENT MOON

A day as per the scriptures starts from sunset and ends at sunset (Genesis 1:5). The beginning of the first month for the year as per the scriptures depends on whether the Barley is Aviv (Abib), that is the stage of ripeness in the land of Israel and also on the new moon sighting when sighted from Israel (Exodus 23:15). The period between one year and the next is either 12 or 13 lunar months. Because of this, it is important to check the state of the barley crops at the end of the 12th month. If the barley is Aviv at this time, then the following New Moon (as per biblical classification) is the first month of the year (Rosh Hashanah). If the barley is still immature, we must add another month and then check the barley again at the end of the 13th month.
